The Magic of Planetary Days

In ancient astrology, the days of the week are influenced and ruled by five of the first planets created, plus the Sun and the Moon. A planetary day begins with sunrise, is sectioned off into 24 hours, and ends at sunrise the following day when a new planet takes over. You may have heard more news and conversation about the American workforce shifting to four-day workweeks to improve mental health, creativity, and productivity. This concept has been executed in Iceland (and has extended to Spain and New Zealand) to overwhelming success. Suppose the American workforce decided to implement this method both in their offices and their marketing. In that case, I am positive that they would be pleasantly surprised by employee morale, work/life balance, and productive output. They would be working with the energies of the day and not against it. Curious what effect this would have on my life, I began ruling my days to the best of my ability according to the ruling planet, and the results have made a long-lasting impact on my life.

Here is a brief breakdown of the Planetary Days and how to harness it to your advantage:

Monday - Moon Day. A day tuned to the Divine Feminine; it is supposed to be reflective and cleansing. It’s a good time to spiritually cleanse yourself, your home, or your office. Working on projects that involve calm, methodical activities or setting up for the week ahead will be useful to you. Dressing in the colors of the day, whites, blues, greys, can enhance the energies and moods you experience.

Tuesday - Mars Day. Mars influences behaviors such as action, aggression, confidence, and ambition. I find Tuesdays to be particularly in tune with me because I was born on a Tuesday. The Divine Masculine influences Mars Day; however, it can switch on a dime because the line between aggression and outright conflict is a thin one. I like to use Tuesdays for workouts, projects I have been putting off, my sex life, and as a Capricorn, the more productive I am, the more room I have to focus on my ambitions and growing my confidence. If others around you lash out a lot or project, try not to take it personally. Colors: Red.

Wednesday - Mercury Day rules over how often we communicate and get from one place to the next. We tend to catch up on texts, phone calls, dates, or planning on Wednesdays. Scheduling an interview, writing papers, making that phone call will probably go much smoother for you. If you’re someone who is nervous talking or singing publicly, I encourage you to attempt to schedule presentations and performances on those days to aid you in confidence. I take the time to call old friends and family or plan trips. Colors: Green

Thursday - Jupiter Day. You probably have heard Jupiter referenced as the planet of luck and good fortune, and you would be right. I intentionally asked to meet my potential employer on a Thursday and got the job. It’s a great day to shoot your shot. Ask someone out, apply for that grant. Spending and making money is the name of the game. Abundance or Manifesting spell work is advised, and I’ve noticed that's when I book the most tarot clients! Colors: Yellow and Green

Friday - Venus Day. Venus rules love and pleasure. I try to finish my work early and plan an evening with my partner or engage in self-care/beauty rituals. Attraction and dreamwork spells are recommended. Take time to affirm yourself and others, post a selfie or cook a luxurious meal to share. Colors: Red and Pink

Saturday - Saturn affects lessons and responsibilities. This is the off-day we take to catch up on tasks we didn’t finish. If you don’t adhere to a traditional M-F schedule, particularly as a creator or small business, you would do well to focus on marketing and output. This is a good time for shadow work or re-directing yourself and your emotions if you had a tough week. Color: Black

Sunday - Sun Day. Cheerful, hopeful, and relaxed is the vibe. Ground with the outdoors loved ones and being in the present. Set intentions for the week ahead and give thanks for what we have. Colors: Yellow and Orange.

Astrologers recommend dissecting your day even further by organizing by the planetary hours as well! For example, Instagram influencers should use Jupiter and Venus hours to post a selfie or products, Mercury hour for their announcements, etc.

Focusing my days on astrological transits gave me structure and enough variety to keep from feeling burnt out. I was able to prioritize my mental/physical health in a mindful way, as well as my pleasure and relationships.
