Maggie Lindemann on Covering Lizzy McAlpine's “ceilings” and Her Upcoming Tour
In honor of International Woman’s Day and continuing her tradition of releasing covers by female artists that inspire her, pop-punk artist, Maggie Lindemann, released her version of Lizzy McAlpine’s hit single “ceilings.”
“I have been listening to this song nonstop for the last couple months now. I am obsessed with it. I think the melodies and her lyricism are genius. It makes you feel so many different emotions. Happy Women’s History Month to all my fellow sad girls,” she says about the song.
[UNPUBLISHED:] I’m obsessed with your new cover of Lizzy McAlpine’s “ceilings.” What influenced your decision to cover that song specifically?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] I’ve just been listening to that song a lot lately. I’ve seen a bunch of people covering it online, so I wanted to also.
[UNPUBLISHED:] You released the new song in honor of International Woman’s Day, what influenced your decision to honor a song for International Woman’s Day?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] I released it on that day because women are amazing and they should be honored every day of the year.
[UNPUBLISHED:] You’ve been covering different songs from female artists that you admire, who are some artists you’d like to cover in the future?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] I wanna cover Paramore, “Decode” specifically. I think it’d be cool to do Garbage and Avril Lavigne eventually too. I don’t know, I’d be down to cover any song that I like.
[UNPUBLISHED:] Do you have any advice for young women interested in getting their start in music?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] Listen to your gut and do not be persuaded by other people’s opinions. Bee yourself and put yourself out there, you won’t be able to reach people if you don’t make the jump.
[UNPUBLISHED:] You’re going on tour soon, which is so exciting! What are you most excited about for this upcoming tour?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] I’m just excited to perform the new album in full. I’ve never headlined my own tour so I’m excited to feel the energy too.
[UNPUBLISHED:] Do you have any songs you’re most excited to perform?
[MAGGIE LINDEMANN:] I’m excited for all of it but probably “novocaine” and “she knows it” is always a fun one.
