Claire Rosinkranz on Playing Life Is Beautiful, Touring, and Her Single "123"

[UNPUBLISHED:] How does it feel to be playing Life is Beautiful?

[CLAIRE:] Awesome honestly. Super cool. Crazy. My second festival. I'm just happy to be here. I just played Downtown stage and then Toyota. So it was fun.

[UNPUBLISHED:] How was your set? Any memorable moments?

[CLAIRE:] So first one, a little bit more intimidating because it was the main stage and I was the first person. So I was like, "Okay, this looks good. I get to open it up, but all good.” And then the second one, more fun because it's just like you're comfortable and small and you're feeding off the energy of the crowd. And it's really funny, there was this group of boys just like mosh-pitting in a small little area to all my songs that I feel like are not necessarily mosh pit songs. That was adorable. I loved it. I mean, I'd love if they can be mosh pit songs. I'll take it. I'm pleased.

[UNPUBLISHED:] How has your tour been with Alec Benjamin? We know you just started, any memorable moments there?

[CLAIRE:] It's been so fun. I mean, for the most part, it's been awesome. I think just the past couple days, literally we've been moving so much. Like we got in from Nashville this morning, and then playing obviously Life is Beautiful, and then we're flying out tonight and we're going to North Carolina, playing tomorrow night. I don't know, we're just doing a lot and it's super fun. But it's been awesome and I get to do it with my friends and Alex is awesome, he's literally the sweetest human ever. So yeah, it's been good. My favorite show I think so far was Orlando, Florida. That, and then Houston was super fun too. I'm sure there's gonna be a lot more memorable moments to come.

[UNPUBLISHED:] Is there a city that you’re excited to play?

[CLAIRE:] Oh, yes. New York and California because in New York, I just have a lot of friends and fam over there and then LA is where I'm from. So all my friends are gonna be there. I mean, they're both like the bigger cities and also the cities that I know people from, so it'll be fun.

[UNPUBLISHED:] So “Backyard Boy” was definitely a catalyzing hit for you. How do you feel you’ve developed and evolved as an artist since its release two years ago?

[CLAIRE:] Two years ago, that's crazy. I feel like it was yesterday. That's so weird. But I think time is moving so much faster now that we're out of quarantine. I mean, we were just like sitting in quarantine forever. So, now that we're out of it, it just feels like everything is blowing by. So two years, that's insane. Honestly, I feel the same, which I think is good. But I mean, obviously, like, things around me are changing. And like I'm doing a lot of the stuff that I wouldn't do if that didn't happen obviously. So, I think just like the performances and festivals and tour and press and all that stuff, it's just a lot of stuff, I guess around is changing. But, I don't feel like I've really changed. I mean, I'm sure I've grown in a lot of ways and I've been able to learn a ton through my experiences. I don't know, but that's just what happens. So yeah, I feel great.

[UNPUBLISHED:] You released your latest single “123” in July. What was your inspiration behind it?

[CLAIRE:] I didn't go into the studio knowing what I was gonna write about. I just sat down and honestly I was saying how I have told myself that I have commitment issues. And so I write a lot about that. But I also think that it is just like protection from my heart in a way and it's not actually commitment issues. And it's like, there's a point where you get to choose where it gets serious. And you get to choose if you commit or you don't. And so I think most of the time, I don't, but I think that's just they're not the right person. And so I think that song was kind of about my commitment issues. It wasn't really about a specific person, but it was just about previous relationships that I've had --or like relationships, flings, things, whatever you want to call it. It's kind of about that and just how I usually react to it. And I just get maybe the "ick," I don't really know. But yeah, it kind of speaks for itself.

[UNPUBLISHED:] What has been inspiring you lately?

[CLAIRE:] My entire life. My friends, they're the ones who are creating my experiences with me. So, I just think I do so much with my friends and I love them and they're really awesome people. So they inspire me a lot.

[UNPUBLISHED:] And what can we expect from you next? Any new music? Perhaps an album?

[CLAIRE:] Oh yeah baby, an album. We were supposed to release it in the fall. I don't know if that's gonna happen. But it'll definitely be out the beginning of next year, which is coming up really quickly. So yeah, I have so much music on it too and I just want to give it out so bad.
